Alright, this is not going to be some revolutionary fashion post. Just want to write a bit on why I left, what I did, and why I'm back.
Why I Left
So most of you probably didn't notice but I went on a 4 month Belt or no Belt hiatus. I stopped posting, stopped trying and even stopped thinking about the blog. The reasons aren't profound. They're actually the opposite. Here's what happened from August til now.
1. About all my close friends and like 80% of my family have birthdays in August. I spent almost all my waking hours celebrating a billion different birthdays.
2. I went on vacation. Seriously. I know this doesn't seem like a big deal but it was my longest and most extensive trip to date. My boyfriend and I opted to do a non-leisurely 2.5 week trip through Greece and Turkey at the end of August. So in the weeks leading up to it all we did was prep, pack and repack. We visited 10 cities total in a little over 2 weeks. No tours. No packages. Just our backpacks. I'll get more into it later as I do some recap posts (which will include some photos obviously).
3. Work was insane. I feel like this sounds like an excuse, but I don't mean it in that way. I just legitimately had so little time to myself. I worked, I slept. I worked. I slept.
4. This is probably the biggest driver to my lack of time. I moved out. Of my parent's home. I bought a place downtown, (I'm super broke, btw). and I officially moved away from the comfort that is Mama and Papa Nhan. It's been a super long process. I technically got the keys to my place in early October, and it's been over a month but I'd say about 20-30% of my belongings are still with my parents. Not only did the move take up my time, but all that went with it: the paperwork, the furniture shopping, the unpacking, the cleaning, the more furniture shopping.
Why I'm Back
So you ask, how is now any different? Why am I restarting my blog after 4 months away? Plain and simple - I missed it. For those of you that don't know me, photography is one of my hobbies. I like taking photos, I like to be in photos. All parts of it. So even though I stopped posting, I still took a crazy number of photos. If you have me on Facebook, you saw me post over 100 photos from my European adventure, but that's only 10% of the total photos we took. I have so many amazing things and memories to share that I felt my blog was perfect for and I seriously missed it.
I'm back now. That's great. What does that mean? Well I want to start by declaring this is no longer just a fashion blog. I know the name will remain belt or no belt and that will get confusing (but I'm attached to the name and the domain.. ain't letting it go). I think for the last year or so a huge driver of my posts have been my trips and travel adventures. I love to run away from home, be it for a weekend or for half a month. I think it's safe to say my blog slowly shifted from being a fashion blog to a travel fashion blog. So I'm going to try and make that work. My goal is to keep that up and continue to document my adventures both fashion and geographical.
I've updated my site (as you can see). I kept the same minimal look and feel but upgraded a few things and added in a few new features. When you've got the time, feel free to click around and explore!
Thanks so much for reading my essay of a post. Below is a recent photo of me so you know I look the same-ish. And so you can see how bundled I now have to be in the great Toronto weather.
